Who takes part in March to Get Screened 5k? Survivors of Colon Cancer, Family Members and Friends that have lost a loved one, and anybody impacted by colon cancer including the physicians and nurses of Borland-Groover Clinic.
Becky – Many times colon cancer is an uncomfortable topic to discuss with others. On March 3, 2018 we want to put an END to colon cancer by making others aware that a simple screening can save a life! We are thankful for you and your support. This video is in loving memory of Becky – a beautiful person inside and out, a mother, a wife, a friend, and a supporter of colon cancer awareness.
Darren – For 7 years, 11 months and 2 ½ weeks, I had no symptoms. I was listening to my body and felt something was wrong. At the time I had no insurance but knew I should get checked out. I went to my primary care physician for a second time, who then suggested I have a colonoscopy. Not having insurance, I wasn’t sure I could afford it at that time. My primary care physician had received a voucher to use on a patient like myself. Within a day or two I was able to schedule my colonoscopy screening and was found to have stage 4 colon cancer! Thankfully the Borland-Groover Clinic Foundation gave an opportunity for patients like me, I was able to start treatment immediately and now I am cancer free!
